Job Summary

The primary role of Head of Digital is to manage the delivery of ICS projects in support of the medium and long term goals of DITG. The Head of Digital requires innovative and imaginative ICS planning skills, good oral and written powers of communication and the ability to understand, adapt and apply commercial technical developments to the Defence Intelligence environment.

Strategic Command is going through a significant transformation programme which aims to improve the way the Command conducts its business and delivers for Defence and the nation. As a consequence of this, all posts within Strategic Command Headquarters and in time the wider organisation, are/will be subject to review and potential changes as we continuously improve across the period of the transformation programme. These changes may be minor or could be more substantive and will generate new opportunities. Throughout, the Command’s transformation programme is committed to following the MOD’s framework on managing and supporting people through the change process and places an emphasis on early and open consultation and engagement with the Command’s personnel and Trade Unions.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week

Job Description

The incumbent is responsible to Comd DITG for:

  • Representation of CIS Services and provision of SME advice at Execs, Chicksands Management Board, Training Board, Chicksands Infrastructure Board (CIB) and DITG O Groups.
  • Preparation and implementation of projects in support of DITG ICS strategy. Identifying and authorising CIS Projects required in line with DITG Strategy.
  • Co-ordination and management of projects, including acting as the chair for Digital Projects Board. Assume the role of budget holder for DITG ICS future projects, including preparation of any CIS related planning round submissions.
  • Prioritisation of CIS project work streams in line with DITG Strategy, CEB direction and evolving training requirements.
  • Acting as the DITG focal point for all future ICS requirements and providing input to MoD projects as appropriate.
  • Delivering accreditable products and services consistent with latest ISO/IEC guidelines and consistent with Cyber Compliance Framework.

Person specification

  • Proven track record of managing and delivering projects
  • A good working knowledge of CIS systems and Cloud working
  • Ability to work well with others in a supportive and constructive way.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines.

This post is eligible for a Digital Skills Allowance of up to £58,660 per annum. Eligibility for this allowance will be assessed at interview against the 4 core technical skills only and reviewed annually in line with departmental policy

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
